I am a PhD student in Electrical Engineering at Politecnico of Turin. My research activity includes the design and the control of power electronics converters using Wide BandGap (WBG) semiconductor for automotive applications. The focus is to use the GaN switches as a promising technology for the future automotive converters to achieve high converter efficiency with very high switching frequency. The goal is to design and control a traction inverter using the GaN switch technology with a purely sinusoidal output current and voltage. The advantages are not only at converter level but especially at e-drive level: no shielded cable, no magnet segmentation, lower motor iron losses, lower EMI disturbance.
