Doctoral Student (PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering)
University of Waikato
I am Chamara Dassanayake, a full-time PhD student at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, where I focus on a research project related to DC circuit breaker development. I earned my Bachelor of Science Honors degree from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2018.
Following my undergraduate studies, I served as an Electrical Project Engineer on a project involving the renovation of several water pump houses in the Baddegama region, Sri Lanka, owned by the Irrigation Department. Subsequently, I joined Ceylon Steel Corporation as an Electrical Control Engineer, contributing to innovative projects in the steel industry.
Gaining valuable industrial exposure, I transitioned to academia, starting as a teaching assistant at Sri Lanka Technological Campus. I progressed to the role of a visiting lecturer, concurrently holding a lecture position at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
Driven by a passion for advancing knowledge, I moved to New Zealand to pursue my doctoral studies, and I am currently dedicated to my research endeavors.
