Wolfgang Frank is born 1968 and reached the degree of Diplom-Ingenieur at University of Technology Munich in 1995 and PhD at German Federal Armed Forces University in 2000. He is working in power electronics since 1994.
Dr. Frank started at Infineon in Munich in 2000 as concept engineer for PFC and switch mode power supply control IC.
He changed to discrete power transistors and diodes including silicon carbide products in 2003, when he started at Infineon Technologies Austria in Villach.
He began concentrating on system engineering for packages, IGBT and freewheeling Diodes in 2005 and changed back to Infineon Technologies in Munich / Germany.
After working for concepts of high integration intelligent power modules, he is now responsible for gate drive ICs for power transistors as a system architect. His current research interests are advanced gate drive techniques for slope shaping, efficiency increase of power electronic applications and new concepts for solid-state relays and circuit breakers.
Dr. Frank holds numerous patents and inventions regarding the control of switch mode power supplies and gate control techniques.
