This article proposes a medium voltage DC (MVDC) to low voltage DC (LVDC) high power converter utilizing a single core multi winding transformer for the fast EV charging application. The proposed topology eliminates the need for a low-frequency bulky transformer and offers bidirectional power flow with ZVS capability. In comparison with the state of art topologies, the proposed topology offers less dv/dt, which enables high-frequency operation reducing the size of magnetics and EV charging station footprint. Steady-state analysis and control algorithm of this topology with the Single-Phase Shift (SPS) modulation technique is provided. The proposed topology is validated with simulation and scaled-down hardware prototype for a 150 W battery.
