This talk introduces the use of an additional Synchronous Rectifier MOSFET on time for achieving zero voltage turn on of the primary MOSFET in a flyback power supply. The benefits of this compared to traditional flyback and active clamp flyback topologies. How the Synchronous Rectifier MOSFET on time is calculated and a technique for a power supply controller to actively calculate the required timings automatically without input from the power supply designer.
