The scope of this presentation is to give an overview of hold-up time extension circuits that enable high power density and ultra-flatness in AC/DC power supplies with hold-up time requirement. An implementation example of a PSU suitable for 5G outdoor telecom applications, based on the appropriate selection of power devices, driver and controller ICs, and showing the challenges and solution of hold-up time requirement, will be also presented.
