PhD scholar
University of Waikato
I, Nirashi Rangika Polwaththa Gallage completed a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2004. Additionally, I earned a postgraduate diploma in Data Networks and Security from Birmingham City University in the UK in 2013. Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Power Electronics at the School of Engineering, University of Waikato.
With over ten years of teaching experience in Sri Lanka, I conducted lectures and laboratory sessions for Higher National Diploma in Engineering students, overseeing their final-year research projects in Electronics and Telecommunication. Presently, I work as a teaching assistant on a casual basis at the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
My current research focuses on the development of a low-frequency supercapacitor-assisted converter to power inverter-driven whitewares using a renewable-energy-based DC bus. This aims to achieve energy savings and eliminate the need for batteries to buffer fluctuations.
Upon completing my Ph.D., I am open to working as an industry-oriented researcher in the DC home area, considering opportunities with either a university research group or an industry company with a strong focus on R&D.
