Coupled inductors are known in the industry to improve performance of the multi-phase voltage regulators. However, the best current ripple cancellation is achieved at very particular duty cycle values where the switching signals in different phases just start to overlap. A new concept is proposed to inject an additional signal into coupled inductor so the best current ripple cancellation and therefore performance is achieved in any circuit conditions. Experimental results confirm the benefits of the proposed topology.
