Recently, series-resonant based dual-active-bridge (SRC or SR-DAB) topology and corresponding phase-shift based modulation strategies became promising for grid-connected bidirectional converter application, however, the strong coupled non-linear relationship between power level and controlled variables makes such strategies hard to control. This paper proposes a novel topology of series-resonant circuit for single stage single phase AC-DC converter, along with a simplified modulation strategy. Two ground-connected half bridges with parallel capacitors will clamp the switching point voltage up automatically, results in a simple switching pattern on the primary side. On the secondary side an adaptive phase shift enables instant power level matching for PFC function. Critical system performance includes PWM switching pattern, zero-voltage-switching(ZVS) range and switching stress for each switch, are examined. Finally, a detailed simulation result and proposed future hardware experiment is introduced.
