Asynchronous Microgrid Power Conditioning System (AMPCS) are the power electronics converters used for the interconnection of the medium voltage (MV) asynchronous grids. A Three-Level Neutral Point Clamped (3L-NPC) converters, enabled by series-connected 10 kV SiC MOSFETs and JBS Diodes, are used to realize the power blocks for AMPCS. This digest focuses on the complete system level control design for AMPCS, and the challenges associated with cascading of the power converters at medium voltage level. Experimental results show the successful operation of the 10 kV SiC MOSFETs and JBS Diodes at medium voltage levels in three-phase 3L-NPC converter configuration and dual active bridge (DAB) configuration.
