The coil configuration is a critical element in Electric Vehicle wireless charging systems. This paper analyzes and compares the major electrical properties and physical properties of circular, square, and hexagonal coil. This paper includes two revised analytical model, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) results conducted on ANSYS MAXWELL, experiment set up, and proof of concept to compare important parameters such as self-inductance, resistance, quality factor, volume, efficiency weight, and cost. This simulation is carried out for a 3.7 kW system (level 1 charging defined by Society of Automotive Engineers) and an experimental test to validate parameters will be performed.
