This work introduces a new modulation method to reduce voltage spikes in electric motor windings when fed by a voltage source drives (VSDs) and long cable. The methodology for implementing the proposed PWM method, called Long Cable Space Vector Modulation method (LC-SVM), for applications with long cables will be introduced and experimental results will be presented, comparing the standard space vector modulation (SVM) and the proposed modulation for long cables.
